Calculator

Steel weight calculator.

Calculate the weight of plate, bars, hollow sections, pipes, and angles per meter, per bar, and in total — straight from the cross-section dimensions.

Theoretical results based on material density; actual weights may differ slightly due to mill tolerances.

How this calculator works

Weight is calculated from the profile's cross-sectional area multiplied by material density (steel = 7,850 kg/m³). For example, a 40 × 40 × 2 mm hollow section has a 304 mm² cross-section, giving 2.39 kg/m or about 14.3 kg per 6 m bar. We cover the full formula in our hollow weight calculation article.

For standard profiles such as WF, H-Beam, UNP, CNP, and SNI rebar, use our product specification tables — those weights follow mill catalogues rather than theoretical calculations.
