What determines the steel pipe price?

- Class (Light / Medium / Heavy). For the same diameter, a thicker class (Medium/Heavy) is heavier and costs more than Light.

- Mill price & market swings. Steel coil/billet prices move with global prices and the exchange rate — the main reason prices change.
- Volume & delivery. Buying per bundle / per project is cheaper per kg; freight adds to the total.
Watch out: under-spec (“banci”) pipe
The market is full of pipe with wall thickness below nominal (e.g. labelled Medium class but actually thinner). It looks cheap, but each length weighs less — so you actually pay more per kg and the strength is reduced. Always compare the price per kg and confirm the actual class and wall thickness.
